Suzanne
Hi everyone,
Thank you very much for your desire to join this adventure ! 😊 I’m very excited to proclaim with you that Jesus Christ is born and to share our joy with people around us. – Suzanne

Suzanne
Here is the first song we will learn this week:

O come, all ye faithful

Suzanne
The melody that you already know is the soprano voice (the higher women voice).
For thoses who are motivated to learn other voices, you can also sing :
For women :
– Alto (lower women voice)
And for men :
– Tenor (higher men voice)
– Bass (lower men voice)

Piano:

Soprano:

Alto:

Tenor:

Bass:

Suzanne
If you don’t know what is your voice, you can try both of them (soprano and alto for women, tenor and bass for men) and choose the one you feel best.
You can hear your voice several times, try to sing it, and when you feel confident, try to sing it with the 4 voices record.

Joy to the World

Suzanne
Hi everyone!
Thank you very much for the great job you did on Sunday and during the whole last week ! This first song is already very beautiful. Keep working on it if you need, we will sing it again next Sunday.

Suzanne
Welcome to the new singers who join us this week.

Suzanne
New week, new song ! This time, we are going to work on Joy to the World.

Suzanne
As last week, you can hear your voice several times, learn to sing it, and when you feel confident, try to sing your voice with the 4 voices record. We will try it all together on Sunday.

Suzanne
For thoses who want to read the voice on the score, there is two parts. Above the words, it’s the female part. Below the words, it’s men part. On the women part, the upper note is the soprano voice, and the lower note is the alto voice. The same for men : the high note is the tenor voice and the low note is the bass voice.

Piano:

Soprano:

Alto:

Tenor:

Bass:

Suzanne
And to answer a question that some men asked on Sunday : No, the bass voice isn’t the melody sung low. It’s a different voice that you can learn by hearing the bass voice record. For men who want to sing the melody, it’s the soprano voice, even if you sing low.

Les anges dans nos campagnes

Suzanne
Hi everybody !
I have a new challenge for you, this week !
Our new song, “Angels we have heard on high” will be sung… 🥁

Suzanne
In French !
An important part of people we will see in the street speak French, so it’s a good thing to sing in both languages.

Suzanne
In French, the melody of this song is slightly different, to match with words. So don’t hesitate, even if it’s not your voice, to hear the soprano voice several times to put it in your mind.

Suzanne
You will see a beautiful questions/answers in the chorus between sopranos and altos, while tenors are flying on high like butterflies, and with bass as a strong foundation. Enjoy ! 😉

French Pronunciation:

Suzanne
Last week, you asked me to record how to pronounce every verses of “Les anges dans nos campagnes”. Don’t worry if your French pronunciation isn’t perfect, it’s the same for many of us in english.

Piano:

Soprano:

Alto:

Tenor:

Bass:

Hark! The herald angels sing

Suzanne
This new week, we are discovering an other very well-known traditional song : Hark! The herald angels sing!

Suzanne
Again this week, after learning your voice, you can test it by singing with the 4 voices recording.
Good luck for this new one ! 💪

Piano:

Soprano:

Alto:

Tenor:

Bass:

O Holy Night

Suzanne
Hi all, After a big suspense, our new song is finally ready ! 😊 Here is “O holy night” :

Suzanne
Sopranos and tenors, don’t worry if it seems too high for you, we will sing it a little bit lower.

Suzanne
Sopranos, in the last line, there’s a really high note (a A) on the “Ho”, (you can hear it in the piano recording) and you can see on the score that there is an other one lower (a F) (I sing it in the soprano recording). We will do the low note (F) for the 2 first verses. In the last verse, if you feel you can sing the A and the following descent, do it, it will be wonderful. If you feel it’s too high for you, keep singing the F, it will be good too.

Piano:

Soprano:

Alto:

Tenor:

Bass:

Voici Noël

Suzanne
Hi everybody,
Our new song, this week, is Silent night. We will sing it again in French (the French title is “Voici Noël”). You will see that this one is easier to learn for every voices.
Again this time, the melody is slightly different in French, to match the words. So take care of that when you learn it. 😊

Suzanne
Here is a record to help you to pronounce every verses in French :

French Pronunciation:

Suzanne
For the moment, we discovered 6 songs. I had several other songs for you. But if you agree, I think it’s wiser to stop here and use the remaining weeks until Christmas to work on these 6 songs, to improve our harmony.
